Winter 2010 SUPPORT GROUPS: 9 a.m. to Noon at Crossroads office

Crossroads holds ongoing Support Group meetings for our foster parents. During these sessions you will have the opportunity to meet other foster parents and talk with our Crossroads Support Workers. These sessions can be counted towards your yearly Supplemental Training hours.

This past year we offered these support groups:

FASD: Thurs Feb 11 2010 9:30a.m. - 12:00p.m.  
Professionalism: Thurs Feb 18 2010 9:30a.m.- 12:00 p.m.
Attachment: Thurs Feb 25 2010 9:30a.m.- 12:00p.m.
Parenting Tool Box: Thurs Mar 4 2010 9:30a.m.-12:00p.m.
Goals of Misbehaviour: Thurs Mar 11 2010 9:30a.m.- 12:00p.m.

Foster Parent Orientation Group (FOG): Wednesdays: Feb 10, 17, 24 Mar 3, 10, 17. All families who have fostered less than two years are required to attend FOG Training.

New Training dates will be available in the fall of 2010.


2010 Events

Crossroads Foster Families come together several times a year for activities involving everyone of all ages.
 

June 26, 2010 was our Annual Foster Family Picnic

This year Crossroads was invited to join our picnic with the Edmonton Ellerslie Constituency Family Picnic. All our foster families, anyone interested in fostering, and all Edmonton-Ellerslie constituents were invited to join us for free lunch and fun activities for the children. 

When: 11:30am to 2pm

Where: Millhurst Park 5811 19a Ave, near the heart shaped balloons!

May 17, 2010 and June 9, 2010 were our Annual General Meetings for Edmonton and the Wetaskiwin area respectively.

Online Training

Foster Parent Supplemental Training is now available ONLINE! 
 

In September of 2007, Crossroads became an affiliate of the Foster Parent College (FPC). Interactive courses give foster parents the opportunity to learn more about specific problem behaviours and emotional disorders and strageties to effectively address them.
These courses are free to eligible Crossroads Foster Parents and count as Supplemental Training.  For more details or to register call Emelyn.

How to Get to our Edmonton Office

We are located in the south east end of the city on the corner of 91st Street and Ellerslie Road.  

You will see our beautiful yellow building from Ellerslie or 91st. We overlook a scenic park with a pond.
